Supplied new by the Porsche Centre in Norwich in April 1990, this manual 964 Carrera 4 Targa is finished in the rather lovely (and rarely seen) Tahoe Blue paired with a Silk Grey interior.

This example has covered 113,700 miles from new and has had five previous owners however, the car does not wear this mileage as you would expect. The engine and gearbox feel notably tight, helped by a top-end rebuild carried out by Nelson Porsche in 2013 and more recently, servicing and remedial work has been completed by highly regarded Porsche specialist, GT One. This car has clearly been a well-looked-after example rather than one that’s simply been passed along. Cosmetically, the car presents extremely well. The paintwork appears excellent, with a consistent finish throughout and the car retains the details that so often get lost along the way, namely the correct flag mirrors and D90 wheels, both of which suit the car perfectly.

Out on the road, it just feels right. Solid, composed and with that reassuring, mechanical honesty the 964 does so well. The Targa roof panel is in excellent condition and lifts out easily, turning it into a genuinely enjoyable open-air car when the weather plays ball.

It’s a very complete, very honest example of a 964 Targa – in a colour you’re unlikely to see twice – and, crucially, one that feels properly sorted.
